Hyde Hampers are a small family run business, set up because so many of their friends and family kept requesting more of the jams, chutneys and marmalades they were making and also loved the hampers that were given as presents each year. Before they knew it, they were making more produce and many more hampers. Things really began to snowball so they spent a year or so fine tuning their offerings and had many, many taste tester sessions to reach where they are now.
Hyde Hampers provide many different kinds of hampers, baskets and gift packages, with either a selection of their homemade Jams, Chutneys, Marmalades, or mixed. Individual jars can also be purchased. If stocks are available, they can provide specific selections.
Hyde Hampers currently sell to friends and family within the Hampshire/Berkshire area, but hope to expand during the coming months/years.
The 'Hydes' are a (reasonably) normal family who got the growing bug before it became a craze. They have been able to produce a wide variety of produce that really does taste better than from the local supermarkets.
They grow most of their produce in their own garden and also have an allotment. They pick and cook their produce, making it as fresh as we possibly can.
They grow their produce by ORGANIC principles, using no fertilisers or chemicals, just with their lovely homemade compost.
Due to the seasonal nature of their products, they only have a small stock of staple items, so their current creations can be found on our Jams and Chutneys page.
They got the recycling bug early on and have tried to live a more sustainable life having experimented with many different schemes. They have had chickens which have amused them for hours, given them lovely fresh eggs and sped up their composting process with their manure, giving them lovely, rich compost to grow their crops in.
They have a Johanna and Green Cone, so all their kitchen scraps, including bones and cooked food, get recycled. The Johanna also gives them a rich compost.
Their large front garden has been given over to raised vegetable beds, with flowers around the edges. They get a lot of fruit and veg from their garden and it has proved a talking point for the people who walk by. They now have a bee hive and produced their own honey for the first time and hope to be selling it from 2011.
